Rural Groups Awards night 2009

Omagh Forum for Rural Associations 19th Annual General Meeting and the second Community Awards event was held on Wednesday 11th November 2009 in Heron Hall, Clanabogan.

The Community Awards event celebrates the work of rural groups and individuals in the Omagh district.   Aidan Bunting , Network Coordinator, said “this is an important night for rural community groups in the Omagh district.  We want to acknowledge volunteering and support community endeavour.   There are so many hard working groups in the community and our awards reflect this through categories for local rural regeneration; categories involving Youth (or) Arts/Culture or Health/Caring and we also have nominations for individual community endeavour.  This year there is a special Community Award for a town, village or community in the district.”

The Chairman of Omagh District Council Councillor Paddy McGowan was in attendance to present the Community Awards to the groups.

Each year Omagh Forum take their AGM out among their member groups and this year Clanabogan Development Initiative are hosting the event.  “This is a great networking opportunity for local groups to meet up and find out what is happening in other communities in the district”, said Mary T Conway of Omagh Forum.

Omagh Forum for Rural Associations is funded by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development through the Rural Development Programme.
